The earlier post about the Brooklands got me thinking... what is the best car that flies FAR under the radar of pretty much everyone?

I feel like Vipers are forgotten. Even spelling out "viper" feels weird.

Probably the Toyota Avalon. Seriously, I had to look it up in order to make this post.

Autech Skyline GT-R R33 Sedan.
Supposedly 380hp limited-production sedan with AWD and RB26TT.

bmw 535d, or really any BMW diesel.
"We need more diesels!" -completely ignore the fact that bmw sells diesel cars in the USA.
It's not just Audi and VW doing it..

Volvo V70R. It looks like just another Volvo... until you downshift and floor it (forget downshifting... just wait 3 seconds it has the same result).

I got a few answers:
96-98 2.5TL and 3.2TL (actually different front ends; everything in front of the A-pillar was different between the two cars; they even had different JDM names. Both had longitudinal engines)
95-98 Honda Odyssey and 96-99 Isuzu Oasis. One of the most awesome minivan sever. The Ody EX and Oasis LX have a sunroof, and three rows of 2 seats like the R-class. (The base models Ody LX and Oasis S have a second-row bench that holds three). Only the 98 Ody and 98-99 Oasis have VTEC. There was a V6 available but not in the US.
01-04 Volvo V40 (The 2000 model had too many problems) They debuted in Europe in 96, US debut 2000, with the facelift/refresh for the 01 model year. Ford really should've just waited until the 01MY to sell them here.
90-91 Lexus ES250. An already awesome car made even more awesome with some added luxury and prestige. Luckily the later ES300's will never be forgotten.

there are Ghiblets all over where I am, enough that I laugh about that awesome review of them being fancy Chrysler/fiats all the time.

I've got one for ya! Opel Kadett GSi. My uncle had one back in the 80's, and I can tell you, the thing damn near killed him! It was fast, loose, and cool. The perfect car for a man in his 20's!
Back in 1988, this car made 155hp from a 1.8L 16V engine! keep in mind that that's 17hp mre than the equivalent GTI, and it had longer gears and was just as reliable!
the thing was pretty quick on it's feet, as this video shows!

Doubtfully the "best" forgotten car, but probably the most forgotten Porsche is the 968 - the final evolution of the 924/931/944/951 chassis. Powered by a 3 liter engine, it features one of the largest production inline 4 cylinder engines - exceeding the largest inline 4 currently in production (Vortec 2900).

That's literally the only good thing about it, and the looks.
But the R8 gives you the same V10 with the best transmission ever, and a better driving experience.
gmporschenut also a fan of hondas
